Legal Information

The following information pertains to legal issues and disclosures as it pertains to responsibilities, trademark usage, copyrights, and other related issues.

Confidentiality and Security

The Internet banking feature of this Website supports versions of Netscape Navigator(tm) and Microsoft(r) Internet Explorer that use 40-bit or 128-bit encryption. Encryption is a means of “scrambling” information for transmission between computers. The information is “scrambled by the software on your computer and transmitted in a “scrambled” form to Equity CU’s computers, which have software to “unscramble” the information.

(tm)Netscape is a registered trademark and Netscape Navigator is a trademark of Netscape Communications Corporation.

(r)Microsoft is a registered trademark of Microsoft Corporation Of course, 128-bit encryption is stronger and more secure than 40-bit encryption. Equity CU recommends the use of 128-bit encryption for all financial transactions conducted using the “Internet Banking” feature available on this web site, because of the added risk of breaches of confidentiality and security using the older, less secure 40-bit encryption technology. Please be aware that any e-mail messages you forward to us are NOT encrypted in any way, and are therefore as insecure, and as open to interception, as any other non-encrypted form of communication (e.g. ordinary mail, conversations on ordinary or cellular telephones, etc). Equity CU accepts no responsibility for the security of confidential information forwarded to it by e-mail, and expressly discourages members from doing this. Although Equity CU makes all reasonable efforts to ensure the security of Internet banking, Equity CU cannot warrant its complete security, even using 128-bit encryption technology.

Members’ Responsibility for Security

You must become familiar with, and be constantly aware of, the icon used by your browser to indicate the encryption status, and therefore the security, of your connection with Equity CU. You agree not to enter the Internet banking function of this web site, or, having entered it, to exit it without conducting any transaction, if your browser does not indicate that you have a secure connection with Equity CU. You agree not to leave your computer unattended while conducting an Internet banking session. You also agree not to leave your computer unattended after having completed an Internet banking session without first terminating the session, exiting the web site, and exiting the browser to erase any temporary files that might contain confidential information in non-encrypted form. You must also be aware that Internet banking files may exist in an non-encrypted state in your computer’s permanent memory until erased. You agree to secure or erase these files as soon as possible after completing each Internet banking session. Use of the Internet banking function requires an alias and a password. Equity CU will be aware of the alias you select, but not your password. Although you must disclose your alias to Equity CU, you agree to select an alias that will not identify you or be easily traceable to you. You agree not to disclose your password to any person, and to take all necessary precautions to ensure no one becomes aware of your password while you are entering it into your computer. You agree to notify Equity CY, at 1-800-871-6302, immediately if you become aware of any breach of security or any unauthorized access to your accounts. Equity CU accepts no responsibility for unauthorized use of your alias and/or password, and accepts not obligation to confirm the identity of any user of Internet banking. You agree that access to Internet banking using your alias and password is the legal equivalent of your written signature. You will be responsible for, and bound by, all transactions conducted by using your alias and password to access Internet banking, whether those transactions were done by you, by another person with your consent (e.g. your attorney under a Power of Attorney, or an employee of your business), or by another person without your consent.
